Currently a Junior at the illustrious Tuskegee University majoring in political science, A’Yanna Monae King is best described as an assertive, driven, persistent and determined young woman.

In May 2020, A’Yanna graduated from Centerpoint High School in the top two percentile of her class. By the time of her graduation, COVID 19 struck. After graduating, she wasn’t able to receive many scholarships which left her to figure out how to afford to go to College another way. Due to her personal struggles and inspiration to help, she wanted to pay it forward and create opportunities for students in her similar position attending her University. Her inspiration to start this scholarship was in dedication to her mother and because she simply wanted to be a blessing to someone else as people were to her.

A'Yanna's mother always encouraged her to become a judge due to the way she handled situations and her mindset when it came to facing obstacles. This motivated her drive to pursue and act out what her mother always saw in her. She would always tell A'Yanna, "'you’ll make a great Judge'" and brag to the world that she knew her baby would succeed in doing so. A'Yanna had an epiphany, and since then has been determined to attend Law School and make those dreams come true. Unfortunately on the 23rd of July in 2017, her mother passed away. Leaving her hurt and confused, the one thing she was certain about was pursuing becoming a Judge and making her mother proud.

Inspired by Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." She believes no matter the situation to never dim your light. A'Yanna hopes to be an encouragement to others and to always use her presence and platform to encourage, inspire and educate others.

Her desire now and in the future is to promote academic excellence and to provide service and advocacy for our communities.
